In Early Level 4 Maths Strand - we have been learning about co-ordinates and position. We used ourselves as co-ordinate points to understand positive and negative points in a grid... then we got to play Battleships on a 4 way grid to challenge ourselves.
We ruled up a grid for ourselves and one to find our buddies ships. We hid our grids from each other and attempted to use our new co-ordinate learning.
We all said that we had to remember to use the horizontal line first... "go along the hallway, then up or down the stairs". This helped most of us to get a hit on at least one battleship!!
Blogger doesn't have an option to display your posts in reverse order - so that the oldest post is first, and the most recent post is last. But this article describes displaying your posts in this way by manipulating their post dates. And it links to an article about some other possible options. Previously I've discussed the options for giving your blog a home page. One option is to organise the post-date for each of your posts, so that you control the order posts are displayed in. This is easy enough to do, although there are a couple of risks that you need to be aware of as discussed below. Blogger Posts and the Post-date Each Post in your blog has a date-time value, which is called its "post-date". Normally , this is set to the date/time when you publish the post for the first time. But you can change the post date for any post , and you can do this either when you publish it first, or later on. The post-date is important because it control...
This article explains how to hide or change the format of the "Older Posts" and "Newer Post" and "Home" links that are shown at the b ottom of Blogger blogs with Layout or Designer themes. Why are the older and newer posts links used Most designer and layout themes have links at the bottom of your page of blog posts which let readers navigate back and forward among the list of posts. This is basic to how a blog is intended to work: you post regularly, and give people a way to get back to previous posts. The pager-links are particularly important on pages that are reached using the Label or Archive gadgets, which may show more posts than you normally have on your home page, or displaying in your blog. But some people want to remove them - and this is fine provided readers have other ways of navigating around the blog. How to remove "Newer Posts" and "Older Posts" from your blog To totally remove these items, you just add some new CSS r...
Our Huia reading group was given an interesting question from Koka Ngaire... is Graffiti Art or Vandalism? We read a couple of L4 texts and looked at a video about the history of graffiti and we had to form our opinion from these and our prior knowledge. We all came to the conclusion that it depends. It depends where it is and what the message is... WHAT DO YOU THINK? We would love to hear your feedback in the comments. Koka Ngaire took some photos of real life graffiti and street art in Melbourne - we had lots of discussion about those! Have a read through a couple of examples of our presentations.... from Kaya, Carys, Daniel B and Obe
